What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is far more than what it appears to be at first glance. Its name traces back to a 130-year-old history of holistic medicine – and its principles are more relevant today than ever.
Dr. Andrew Taylor Still (1828–1917) was deeply dissatisfied with the medicine of his time. He began to observe the human body as a whole – body, mind and spirit as an inseparable unit. What he discovered were connections: a patient arrives with abdominal complaints, he examines them, finds blockages in the spine, releases them – and the pain improves.
Osteopathy works exclusively with the hands. After a thorough diagnosis of the entire body, a gentle, targeted therapy begins – releasing blockages and enabling the body to regulate itself again. The focus is not just on where it hurts, but on finding the underlying cause – which is often located far from the site of pain.
Conditions where osteopathy can help effectively:
• Back and neck pain • Headaches and migraines • Shoulder and joint complaints • Digestive problems and abdominal discomfort • Fatigue and sleep disorders • Recovery after accidents or surgery
A treatment cycle typically lasts 4 to 8 sessions. Between appointments, I provide targeted guidance on supportive exercises – because ultimately, healing lies in your own hands.
